Oh Aldi ... how I *heart* you!

Sometimes you find the best storage solutions when you least expect it.

Laundry takes over my home every day. I just can't seem to help it!

On a GOOD day sorting laundry looks like this ...

with baskets on every available surface. (and trust me - this is a TIDY day!)

Which of course means the couch is out of comission until I put all the laundry away ... AND my laundry baskets are being used.

But today at Aldi I found THESE!

And they are fabulous! (shhh - I bought two!)
Two trolleys means four baskets - one for each of us and one for the linen closet.
They are strong, tidy, and can be wheeled from room to room.

Plus they don't look too bad!

Makes me smile!

(and if you like them ... rush to aldi! I bought the last two at our store! )

Laundry rocks!

At least done this way it does!

I read on orgjunkie.com last week about the organising system that changed her life!
http://orgjunkie.com/2010/04/the-laundry-system-that-changed-my-life.html

and i so had to try it.

It rocks!

My old way of doing laundry was one dirty clothes hamper. Wash, dry, then spend forever folding and sorting. Actually a lot of the time the washing would sit in a clean laundry basket because I do not have the TIME to fold and sort right now.

Enter organising junkie ... and her timely post on laundry.

Now I have FOUR laundry baskets. One for each of us, and one for household linen.

We all put our own things in our own dirty clothes. Each day I wash only one basket, hang it and dry it. Then the clean clothes go straight to that person's room, get folded and put straight away.

Serious time saved!

I am love love loving this! Challenge you to give it a go!

Iron and ironing board storage ...

Just a simple tip for me.

Dragging our iron and ironing board out of the cupboard was a PAIN.

So we didn't. And it lived in our living room.

$10.95 and a trip to Howard's Storage World and my problems are solved.

This hanging device "thing" screwed to the outside of a cupboard in our laundry. Now it is so easy to put away - and I don't need to worry about what I am knocking inside our cupboard. So we USE it!

I've seen them at hardware stores, big w etc too.

Moral of the story ... if it doesn't work or is too hard LOOK for another SOLUTION!
There is always one there!

Brightening up the laundry

I worked hard last week through unbelievable layers of dust to clean our laundry.

Yet it still looks like a mismatched store room.

Nothing like a few pretty accessories (that are useful and functional too!) to cheer a girls heart!

Oh.my.the.dust.

I cleaned my laundry.

One garbage bag to the dump.

I should have worn a mask with my asthma.

Can I just say that damp dusting the laundry is now on my weekly to do spreadsheet???
